    10.10. / Rihmasto – 30 Years of sound

Rihmasto is the ambient music project of Jukka Andersson and Jarkko Lahti, formed in 1996.

This special 30th anniversary event celebrates three decades of immersive sound exploration through slow-moving soundscapes that bend time and space, leading the listener into shifting perspectives where the familiar becomes strange and the small turns immense.

Field recordings, organic textures, and electronic layers merge into evolving stories that, in live performances, gradually take control and set the flow. Nature’s presence and raw energy remain at the core, making each experience deeply personal.

2.10. / Listening Party of the Live Album “Geographies of Hope Vol.1” by Loica

Join us for a Listening Party of the Live Album “Geographies of Hope Vol.1” by Chilean songwriter, Loica. October 2nd, 7pm at Äänen Lumo.

    Doors open at 6.30pm
    Listening party starts at 7pm

Embark on a journey of sonic restoration for our wounded planet. With a voice that dives deep into the soul, Loica crafts an immersive experience, guiding listeners through landscapes both inner and outer—mountains, oceans, and the delicate terrain of our own emotions.

As you enter this soundscape, you’ll hear the melancholic and tender notes of South American songwriting traditions, woven into playful explorations of indie, funk, and R&B. Picture yourself wandering through a lush garden, lulled by melodies under a magnolia tree, feeling the burning grief of asters and goldenrods, the fierce shout of a forest fire, and the silent cracks of desertification.

All compositions were performed live in May 2025 at Musiikkitalo as part of Global Fest, accompanied by an ensemble of world-class musicians based in Finland.

    𝙋𝙊𝙇𝙔𝙁𝙍𝙀𝙀

Polyfree is Raoul Björkenheim’s new moniker for a shifting array of combos, mainly a trio with Jori Huhtala on bass, but for this gig he merges with Sam Ospovat as a duo into a musical language under construction!

Sam Ospovat is a drummer and composer interested in the intersection of new rhythmic structures and improvisation. After his immersion in 20th century percussion music and Haitian drumming, Ospovat developed song forms resembling Calder/like mobiles. The New York Times has called his work “prismatic, oddly seductive, inspired by the 12 tone modern classical composers, the snarled energies of math rock and the rough-riding vigor of jazz improvising”.

Raoul Björkenheim is a Finnish-American guitarist and composer who has been creating original music for the past four decades, and has during that time also taught several generations of Finnish jazz musicians at the Sibelius Academy. Describing his on-going work as investigative guitarism, he is best known for an expressionistic and lyrical guitar style.

    𝙒𝙄𝙍𝙍𝙍2

Wirrr2 is the collaborative project of performance & voice artist Doris Steinbichler and drummer Lukas Wöber. Through an intuitive interplay of vocals, drums and effects, they weave a pulsating web of tribal rhythms, electronic textures and mystical soundscapes – oscillating between free impro, punk, noise and experimental music.

Steinbichler, active in Mexico since the 1990s, merges vocal and embodied performance, with extended techniques, live electronics and live looping. Wöber, active in the Austrian scene since 2010 as a drummer and percussionist, explores rhythm as a collective experience and an expansion of consciousness. Together they form a performative ritual transforming sound into a physical, ecstatic experience.

    RYOSUKE KIYASU

Ryosuke Kiyasu on uraauurtava rumpali, joka on uudistanut perkussioilmaisua soolovirvelikeikoillaan vuodesta 2003 lähtien. Sooloprojektinsa lisäksi hän on soittanut mm. noise-grind-duo Sete Star Septissä, Kiyasu Orchestrassa sekä Keiji Hainon legendaarisessa Fushitsushassa. Kiyasu jatkaa edelleen jo vuosikausia kestänyttä, loputtomalta vaikuttavaa maailmankiertuettaan.

Paanin Kuoro on julkaissut yhdeksän albumia, joista valtaosa on kasetteja. Byron Coley kuvaili hiljattain The Wire-lehden palstallaan yhtyeen hiearkioista vapaata improvisaatiota vastustamattomaksi.

𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘂 is a Greek-Austrian French horn player living in Berlin — and an active member of the city’s free improv scene . Her voice is original; lyrical and mellow, angry as a wild animal or a stormy sea, calm as the wind or the soft rain. She can be heard on more than 20 albums, with her duo Nabelóse, her trio Zinc & Copper, solo, and with plenty of collaborations.

  • 23.9. / solo+duo Libero Mureddu/bäckström wärnheim

    23.9. / solo+duo Libero Mureddu/bäckström wärnheim

    Libero Mureddu

Improviser, pianist, composer, and music technologist based in Helsinki, Finland

Born in Milan in 1975 and based in Helsinki since 2003, Libero Mureddu is a versatile musician and researcher. He is a doctoral researcher in the Arts Study Programme at Uniarts Helsinki. His research focuses on the role of embodied knowledge in free improvisation performance.

[eng] bäckström wärnheim is the fruit of a long friendship and musical companionship. Their debut album ett was released in 2025. As intimate as a confidential conversation, their music unfolds with precision and presence while remaining in the spectrum between low and ultralow dynamics. Their carefully constructed musical microverses utilizes the extended sound palettes of their instruments though breath, noise and consonance and invites the listener to an intense listening experience.

    Jonathan Bäckström – double bass

    Marcus Wärnheim – alto saxophone

  • 18.9. / Ahti Kulo live ambient + Oakahtoakseh + Irides

18.9. / Ahti Kulo live ambient + Oakahtoakseh + Irides

Vallilan Toisessa Kerroksessa Äänen Lumon tiloissa Pe 18.9. suuri iltama uudelle ambientille, elektrolle ja kokeelliselle musiikille! Oakahtoakseh, Irides, Ahti Kulo. Liput 5€-15€, pay what you can. B.Y.O.B.

    20:30 Ahti Kulo (live ambient)

    21:30 Irides

    22:30 Oakahtoakseh

    https://oakahtoakseh.bandcamp.com

Irides syntyi, kun Inka Reinola löysi korona-aikana oman musiikillisen kotinsa lämpimien analogisten syntetisaattorien maailmasta. Työhuoneen yksinäisyydestä luotu yhden ihmisen projekti on suurimmaksi osaksi täysin artistin omaa käsialaa tuotannosta miksaukseen. Kappaleiden tummanpuhuvat sanoitukset yhdistyvät pehmeän utuiseen lauluun, sotkeutuen yhteen minimalististen syntetisaattoriäänien kanssa. Musiikillisissa vaikutteissa kuuluu mm. darkwave

    https://iridesofficial.bandcamp.com/album/siirtym

Ahti Kulon immersiivistä liveä on koettu mm. Mitäs Mitäs, Ö-Fest ja Ilmiö-Festivaaleilla. Kulon toinen studioalbumi “Ikaros” ilmestyi lokakuussa 2025, ja Soundi kuvaili sitä “rikkobiitistä inspiroituneeksi koko vartalo kokemukseksi”. Toisessa kerroksessa Ahti Kulo avaa illan harvinaislaatuisella live ambient & visuals -setillä!

    ****************************
    DELPHINE DORA (FRA)

Delphine Dora is a French pianist, organist, vocalist, improviser, and composer. For nearly two decades, she has cultivated a distinctive and intuitive musical language that bridges improvisation, folk, contemporary classical, experimental and electroacoustic music, as well as poetic expression. Situated at the confluence of composition and improvisation, her work unfolds through a singular and highly accomplished practice of instant composition, where form emerges in the immediacy of performance. Deeply anchored in the present moment, it explores altered temporalities and sensitive geographies, weaving resonant connections between the contemporary and the archaic, the poetic and the ineffable, the physicality of sound and the ethereal, the outer world and inner life. Her creative process embraces openness, chance, and collaboration.

Dora’s music has been released on labels such as Recital, Modern Love, Morc, Okraïna, Feeding Tube, and three:four. She has performed extensively across France, Europe, Japan, and Georgia.

    PIIA RINNE

Piia Rinne is a Pori-based sound artist and textile designer who operates at the intersection of sonic experimentation and tactile craftsmanship, weaving a profound connection between these two mediums. Her sound art, largely constructed from tape loops, becomes a metaphor for the textile artist’s craft – cutting, stitching, and layering materials, Rinne shapes sound in much the same way she might approach fabric, imbuing each element with texture and depth.
