    Welcome to the music video premiere for NIGHT BUS. A tale of endurance, of dark nights and knights in shining armor, of dames and jesters and angels, it might remind you of a fan-made edit for a feature film that doesn’t exist.

    The song is by M LORE, and was released as part of their debut EP, NEW ME, on the experimental label Unguarded. Described by Parkett Channel as “truly new rhythm,” NIGHT BUS’ beat is sculpted from tumbling gravel. Its dramatic strings are woven from the voices of angels. Inspired by a narrowly avoided assault at a night bus stop, the song is a tool for catharsis and a prayer for liberation.

    The video is by Helena Aleksandrova. She heard NIGHT BUS’ dark sound and took it to the dark ages. Forging historical costumes from cardboard, aluminum foil, old hockey gear, broken jewelry, etc., she created a cast of archetypical characters to illuminate the song’s tale. This tale is told in movie-trailer style fragments with Cindy Sherman style identity-play. In the end, the friends and the homies are the ones who answer our prayers.

    Harmonia-klubin toisella kerralla asettaudutaan Toiseen kerrokseen, Vallilaan. Vieraaksi
    saapuu kokeellista elektroakustista musiikkia tekevä Pietu Arvola.

    Tällä kertaa klubi on pyhitetty pelkästään äänelle, musiikille ja improvisaatiolle. Pietu Arvola
    (modulaarisyntetisaattori, kampiliira), Sirja Puurtinen (viulu, elektroniikka) ja Saaramaija
    Zoravski (huilu, saksofoni, elektroniikka) tutkivat yhdessä improvisaation kautta klubien
    teemoja: rauhaa, yhteyttä ja lempeyttä sekä niiden ilmenemistä ristiriitojen, riitasointujen ja
    muutoksen keskellä.

    Harmonia-klubi on uusi tapahtumasarja, jossa improvisoitu musiikki kohtaa filosofisia,
    taiteellisia ja tieteellisiä näkökulmia ja avaa tilaa yhteiselle keskustelulle.

    Muusikot Sirja Puurtinen (viulu, laulu, elektroniikka, äänisuunnittelu) ja Saaramaija
    Żórawski (puhaltimet, laulu, elektroniikka) luovat musiikkia hetkessä vuorovaikutuksessa
    tilan ja yleisön kanssa. Improvisoitu musiikki rakentuu kuuntelemisesta, reagoinnista ja
    läsnäolosta, ja jokainen esitys syntyy ainutkertaisena tilanteena.

    Harmonia-klubien teemoina ovat rauha, yhteys ja lempeys. Tapahtumat kutsuvat yleisön
    pysähtymään, kokemaan ja kuuntelemaan sekä jakamaan ajatuksia musiikin, taiteen ja
    keskustelun äärellä. Harmonia-klubi järjestetään vaihtuvissa paikoissa, ja jokaisella kerralla
    mukana on eri alojen vaihtuva vieras.

    Pietu Arvola on kokeellista elektroakustista musiikkia tekevä artisti. Hänen musiikkinsa on
    kuvattu olevan kuin “uniikin äänimaailman omaava tiheä metsänpeitto, joka koostuu
    elektronisista kerroksista ja aavemaisista äänistä, jotka sirisevät ja humisevat tuulen lailla”.
    Livekeikoilla hänen musiikkiaan voisi luonnehtia sarjaksi pitkiä kudoksia ja kaaria, joissa
    abstraktit elektroniset äänimassat punoutuvat kenttä-äänitteisiin ja harmonisiin
    fragmentteihin. Arvolan tuorein albumi, Silmät sulaa, julkaistiin maaliskuussa 2026.

    Sirja Puurtinen on helsinkiläinen viulisti, säveltäjä-äänisuunnittelija sekä äänitaiteilija, jonka
    työskentely liikkuu improvisoidun ja sävelletyn musiikin sekä akustisen ja elektronisen äänen
    rajapinnoilla. Hänen musiikissaan viulun akustinen ääni yhdistyy live-elektroniikkaan,
    kenttä-äänityksiin ja erilaisiin äänen muokkauksen menetelmiin.

    Improvisaatio on Puurtisen taiteellisen työskentelyn ytimessä. Musiikki syntyy hetkessä
    suhteessa tilaan, ympäristöön, muihin muusikoihin ja yleisöön. Työskentelyssään hän tutkii
    erityisesti kuuntelemista, läsnäoloa ja vuorovaikutusta sekä lempeyden, rauhan ja yhteyden
    teemoja. Puurtinen työskentelee musiikin lisäksi esittävän taiteen, äänitaiteen ja
    mediataiteen kentillä.

    Saaramaija Żórawski on muusikko, musiikintekijä, multi-instrumentalisti ja yhteisötaiteilija.
    Hänen työskentelynsä liikkuu musiikinteon, improvisaation ja osallistavien musiikillisten
    prosessien parissa. Saaramaija työskentelee mm. sairaala- ja hoivaympäristöissä
    muusikkona, joissa musiikki toimii välineenä kokemusten jakamiseen, läsnäoloon ja
    kohtaamiseen. Hän käyttää työssään kehittämäänsä Ääneen laulettu -menetelmää, jossa
    jaettu luova prosessi toimii yhteyden ja ilmaisun välineenä.

    Hän on työskennellyt kansainvälisesti sekä sooloartistina että osana yhtyeitä. Hänen
    instrumenttejaan ovat laulu, huilu, saksofoni ja kitara. Hänen taiteellisessa työssään
    korostuvat herkkyys, rehellisyys ja pyrkimys luoda tiloja, joissa voi tulla kuulluksi ja nähdyksi.
    Improvisaatio ja kuunteleminen ovat keskeisiä työskentelyn välineitä.

    whether it is made by a music instrument or by a moving body.
    Between movement and sounds there is an active space where our encounter happens.
    The outcome is based on a shared listening, and not on shared materials.

    Libero Mureddu is an Italian and Finnish pianist, improviser, and composer based in Helsinki. With thirty years of experience across the European music scene, his artistic practice explores the intersection of free improvisation, algorithmic processes, and music technology. Currently, he leads the murmur trio with Andrea Grossi and Cristiano Calcagnile, and performs with the quartet Mother’s Delight, with Jukka Kääriäinen, Harri Sjöström, and Heikki Nikula. He also maintains regular duo collaborations with artists such as Charlotte Hug and Corinna Eikmeier. Alongside performing, Mureddu teaches contemporary free and electroacoustic improvisation and is a doctoral researcher at the Sibelius Academy.

    Terhi Vaimala explores the intersections between dance artistry and scientific knowledge, particularly anatomy and biomechanics, and their potential as tools within the choreographic process, dancers’ work, and dance training. Vaimala is interested in possibilities of choreographing the embodied, lived and experienced knowledge into communicating aspects of human experience and phenomena within the surrounding society.

    Terhi has over 20 years worth of diverse experience as a dancer and dance maker working with numerous independent dance companies and institutions mainly in Finland, including Carl Knif Company, Petri Kekoni Company, Alpo Aaltokoski Company, Liquid Quartet, Arja Raatikainen & Co, Dance Theatre Glims & Gloms and Helsinki City theatre Dance Company HDC under the direction of Kenneth Kvarnström and Jyrki Karttunen.

    Jaakko Arola is a musician, improviser, composer and instrument-maker from Finland. Arola plays multiple traditional and western woodwind instruments. His current practice is centred around expanding the acoustic timbral possibilities of the bass clarinet via a combination of extended techniques and handcrafted mouthpieces.

    Jekaterina Viltšenko is a Helsinki-based sound designer, composer, and artist. Their work spans a wide range of genres and practices, including electroacoustic composition, spatial audio, live performance, and incidental music composition and sound design for drama and performance.

    Fumantum is the alias of Martin Sepp, based in Tallinn, Estonia. Artist and producer who works in such genres as drone, dark ambient, noise, folk. Also specializes in creating their own ”DIY” musical instruments.
    Cold and deep soundscapes with a touch of metal clanging makes it dark and restless drone orchestra that keeps listener in suspense. Fumantum gives you the opportunity to experience a dream in which not everyone would like to be.

    Antoine Verhaverbeke plays an electric guitar. His live compositions drift slowly through sustain, feedback, overtones, bleeps, rumbles, and whatever accidents happen along the way.

    Nick Cavazos is an audio/video artist highly interested in the topic of feedback and its impact on artistic practice through the usage of no-input mixing techniques alongside various DIY video/audio instruments.

    Rihmasto is the ambient music project of Jukka Andersson and Jarkko Lahti, formed in 1996.

    This special 30th anniversary event celebrates three decades of immersive sound exploration through slow-moving soundscapes that bend time and space, leading the listener into shifting perspectives where the familiar becomes strange and the small turns immense.

    Field recordings, organic textures, and electronic layers merge into evolving stories that, in live performances, gradually take control and set the flow. Nature’s presence and raw energy remain at the core, making each experience deeply personal.

    Oleksii Lupashko is a composer, music and sound performer from Odesa, Ukraine. He works in the field of contemporary music, improvised music and performance. As tools, Oleksii uses electronic devices, metal objects, drums and body gestures in his performances. At the moment Oleksii merely works with dancers and movement artists. Founder and part of No Metro artistic collective, Potreba Group, OHM trio.

    Roomet Jakapi is an Estonian vocalist and free improviser, known for his theatrical performances and extended vocal techniques. He has collaborated with many established improvising musicians, including Chris Pitsiokos, Fred Frith, Rieko Okuda, and many others.
    The UK magazine Jazzwise has described him as a “highly alternative Bobby McFerrin being.” Roomet is also a professional philosopher based at the University of Tartu.

    Hermanni Yli-Tepsa (1979) is a researcher in philosophy, student of pedagogy and musician (violin, double bass). In the recent years he has focused on improvised, experimental and collaborative approaches to playing with string instruments. Currently he works with Merimaija Aalto and Saara Viika, plays in Fernetti and Juuso Paason tulevat käsitteet and makes silent film accompaniments in the band Seitsemäs taivas.

    Taneli Viitahuhta is primarily a wind instrument player who specializes in improvisation as an open-ended practice. He has released music with Ilia Belorukov, Adam Cadell, and Lauri Hyvärinen, among others. At the moment, Taneli works with the performance art group Toisissa tiloissa, together with Otto Eskelinen, and with the multi-faceted free jazz group Fernetti. In addition to his musical work, he has published research on aesthetics/politics (Free Jazz Communism) as well as on philosophy.
